Introducing New Blog Features

It’s been a little over a year since I started this blog. Blogging has been a tremendous source of enjoyment for me and the Dividend growth investing blogging community is just great. I enjoy writing about the financial aspects of my life and occasionally about other areas of my personal life as well. Most recently, I’ve also decided to write about my fitness goals. But, although I love blogging, I’m no expert at computers, SEO, or anything of the sort. However, like most people, I endeavor to learn and grow. Well, I think it’s time for this blog to also grow. The following are new blog related features.

Introducing Dividend Portfolio on Facebook

Facebook has won. Virtually everyone I know is on Facebook. As you know, I’m a private person and did not have Facebook for a myriad of reasons, including the fact that I like my privacy. Well, out of necessity (work related), and despite years of resistance, I recently created my very first Facebook page. Now, to maintain my privacy, I also created a fan page devoted to this blog. So, please visit my Dividend Portfolio Fan Page and tell me what you think. It’s very new.

I just figured out how to have these posts automatically get posted on Facebook. That will help keep the contact fresh. But, I may also toy with adding fresh new content on Facebook that may not necessarily be on this blog. Also, I will eventually change the cover page once I can find an image that’s the right size and looks good. I’m really still learning. I don’t know all the ins and outs of Facebook and I don’t want to accidentally do something that’s going to violate my sense of privacy. Moreover, in addition to knowing a lot of people who have Facebook, I also know a lot of people who seem addicted to it. I really don’t want to be any of those who gets addicted. So, I’m going to take my time with this technology.

I know there are lots more to social media than Facebook. But, I doubt I’ll have time for Twitter, Instagram, or any others right now. But we will see.

So, as I learn about tagging, sharing, likes, and other things of the sort, I hope that the Fan Page will be value added to the blog. If nothing else, it might get more traffic to this site.

Modest Money – Top Finance Blogs

You may have noticed, but there’s a new badge on the website. That’s the Modest Money badge. As of today’s writing, Dividend Portfolio is ranked #584 of the top finance blogs. We have no where to go but up. Social media is included in that score, and right now, the score for this site is zero. That’s accurate because currently, there’s no promotion via social media. So, hopefully, after today, that number will rise.

I have to give a special thank you to Dividend Daze. Although I’ve seen this badge on other sites before, I never really took notice. It wasn’t until it was referenced by Dividend Daze that I took notice. I then decided to pursue its inclusion on this site. Please let me know if you like the positioning of the badge. Do you think it should be moved down a bit?

Conclusion

There you have it. Those are the new features of the blog. If you have any suggestions whatsoever about site improvement, do let me know. Please let me know what you think by commenting below.
