A narrow escape

A narrow escape

Pensioner Malcolm Lemmon from Sprowston, was nearly a victim of Scamming after people claiming to be from an insurance company said he was entitled to thousands of pounds’ compensation.

The scammers said they would deliver a cheque for him but wanted him to get two money orders out for £40 and £60 at the post office.

The 84-year-old saw through the scam but said it was scary to think how easily people could become victims. He said: “It makes you feel quite upset. It could have been my wife and she would have thought it was genuine. They are very convincing”

“People are frightened to tell people if it happens to them. If it happened to me and I told my children, they would try and pay me back the money and I would not want that”

“These people are doing this and if they do not succeed in this place, they will just give it a go in another area. It is scary to think you could get caught so easily”
