Bouchon – Probably The Best Breakfast in Las Vegas

I'm just back from Las Vegas, where I was attending both CES and NamesCon.

Las Vegas is an odd place. It's very hard to explain to someone who hasn't been how a single city can be so wonderful and awful at the same time.

It does, however, have some of the best restaurants in the world. It is truly a foodie's paradise.

Breakfast is possibly the most important meal of the day, but many hotels in Vegas don't offer Breakfast as part of their standard rates. They do, however, usually offer a wide range of restaurants and cafes to choose from.

But since you often have to venture out for breakfast you might as well do it properly and treat yourself to a gourmet breakfast at Bouchon. Doing it every single day would probably hurt your wallet, but doing it once or twice per trip is worth it.

Thomas Keller's Bouchon is in The Venetian and is easily accessible from the main reception area. While you'll probably need a reservation to eat there in the evening, they don't take reservations at breakfast. It's "walk in" only.

If you're lucky you'll be given a table or booth, but eating at the bar is fine too - the food is just as good and the service is excellent wherever you're seated.

For the last couple of years I've made a point of having breakfast at least once in Bouchon during any trip to Vegas. The cuisine is, as the name suggests, French. They have their own bakery on site, so any pastries or breads that you order are guaranteed to be 100% fresh.

My first visit this year got me a seat at the bar. The food? A simple yet incredibly tasty omelette served with pain brioche:

Wash that down with some of their excellent coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice and your day will start off well.

I was lucky enough to get invited by a friend to have breakfast at Bouchon a week or so later. That time round we started off with some beignets:

And then moved on to something more substantial:

While it might not be terribly clear from the photo above, that's eggs with a merguez hash. The eggs were exquisite, though the merguez might have been a little too greasy for my liking - though that's more a matter of personal taste than the Bouchon chef's.

Personally I like to keep my choices for breakfast fairly simple, but it being Vegas you can truly indulge if you want to with the restaurant serving all sorts of combinations with champagne, cocktails and lobsters etc., ie. you can keep it as simple as you like or go "all in".

I'll definitely be back!
