Recover Your Lost Files with Shadow Copy

Accidental deletion or overwriting of files is one of the most common causes of data loss. So Windows Vista has come up with an innovative feature called Shadow Copy to prevent such data loss. Available in the Ultimate, Business, and Enterprise editions of Windows Vista, Shadow Copy helps you recover the previous versions of a file.
How It Works
Shadow Copy is turned on by default in Windows Vista. It automatically creates point-in-time copies of files as you work, so you can quickly and easily recover previous versions of a file.
How to Use
Now Savita doesn't have to worry about losing the original photo. Whenever she edits and saves a photo, Windows Vista saves the original version as a shadow copy. This shadow copy acts as a digital negative so she can recover the original photo from it any time. To access the shadow copy of a photo she wants to restore, Savita right-clicks it and selects restore a version. This displays all the previous versions of the photo with date and time stamps. She then previews each version, selects the one she wants to restore, and just clicks Restore – and the file is back in its original location!
Like Savita are you also prone to accidental file deletions and overwriting? Don’t worry. Next time you accidentally save the old version of a file over the new one, simply restore the version you want with Shadow Copy. What’s more you can convert your photo and video memories into awesome movies with the Windows Movie Maker. And incase, you are worried about data theft, turn on BitLocker Drive Encryption and prevent your data or photos from being misused even if your mobile PC is lost or stolen
