Everything coming to Netflix in March — and what’s leaving

LOS GATOS, Calif. (Heartland Newsfeed) — Netflix Inc. continues to throw its weight around and zero in on luring Hollywood’s top creative talent to make shows and films exclusively for the streaming platform.

Last week, the streaming giant said it inked an exclusive deal with Ryan Murphy and his production company worth a reported $300 million.

Netflix had signed a reported $100 million deal with Shonda Rhimes before that, and has since signed deals with Matt Reeves, Jenji Kohan and Shawn Levy, all to create content exclusively for Netflix.

The company is spending $8 billion on movies and TV shows this year and another $2 billion on marketing that content. And while the company is planning to spend billions of dollars to release more than 80 films, its debt continues to rise.

But in Netflix’s view, it’s worth it to attract more subscribers around the globe.
