IMAP & POP Setting in Telstra Mail

Tags: imap server email

There are two main Email protocols that are used worldwide: Imap and POP. The one you choose will have a great impact on how you send, receive or use your email messages. POP (Post Office Protocol) used to be the popular choice of protocol but these day people are opting for IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) over it. You can more learn about IMAP or POP email protocol from experts at Telstra Email Support Number. But first learn basic things about IMAP and POP and their setting in Telstra mail service.

IMAP

IMAP allows you to access your email service via internet and it keeps your messages stored in Server. When you open your email through IMAP you are not actually downloading it in your computer but you are reading them off of the server, this makes it easy for you to check your mail from different devices.

IMAP Setting for Telstra

Account Type: IMAP

Incoming Server Address: impa.telstra.com

Incoming server port: 993

Incoming Encryption Connection: S SL

Outgoing server address: smtp.telstra.com

Outgoing server port: 465/587

Outgoing Encryption Connection: S SL/TLS on 465 port and STARTTLS on 587 port

Apart from this ensure that all the checkbox are ticked for “Outgoing Server requires authentication”.

POP

POP contacts your email server and downloads all your emails through it. In POP’s case once you download a email, it will automatically get removed from the server. The main drawback of using POP is that you can’t check the mail from different devices, if you have downloaded a mail in one device then that same mail will not open in other device. Any changes you make on that device won’t be reflected on Telstra server or on other devices.

POP Setting in Telstra

The only difference in IMAP and POP setting is in their Account type and incoming serve details and apart from them all other things are same as IMAP in POP.

Account Type: POP3

Incoming Server address: pop.telstra.com

Incoming server port: 995

Apart from above thing, everything is similar to IMAP in POP. You can get assistance from Telstra Email Login Support Number if you still have any other doubt or query about Telstra IMAP and POP setting. We will be grad to serve you with what you require .
