Flow is India’s First Cloud-Connected Scooter with Cruise Control, Drag Mode and Geo-Fencing Features

In 2016, I was amazed how well Ather S340, India’s first Ingenious Electric Scooter was built. Fast forward today, we have not exactly seen auto manufacturers focus on the electric scooters and the entire EV market in India is dismal at best. Today, Twenty Two Motors Pvt Ltd, a new automaker has launched an AI backed scooter called Flow.

The Flow Scooter is futuristic in all aspects and the best part is that it will be priced at Rs 74,4740. Despite being an electric alternative with all the bells and whistles it is still priced at par with some of the traditional scooters like the recently launched Honda Grazia. The Flow Scooter offers many firsts of the Indian two-wheeler industry and seems like it has been teleported from the future to the present.

“We are extremely happy and excited today. Flow, our first and flagship product, is way ahead of time, not just for the Indian market but also several international markets. Electric Mobility is the future of the world – a near future; not distant. The Government of India has the vision of making the country electrically mobile. We are more than aligned with this mission, rather ahead of it.”-Parveen Kharb, CEO and Co-Founder, Twenty-Two Motors

The AI Features

Well, Artificial Intelligence has been the buzz word but the auto industry in particular (apart from Tesla) is yet to piggyback fully on this technology. The Scooter Flow is connected to a cloud server all the time and the users can always keep a track of their vehicle along with the performance statistics. The data is then analysed and is further fed into the system. With the rider data in hand, the Flow scooter will get software updates that are tailor-made to suit the rider.

Geo-Fencing Feature

If you lend your Flow scooter to your friends you can make sure that they don’t wander outside a certain area. Ge0 fencing is a pretty common method used to earmark mining areas and private properties. The makers of Flow scooter will allow users to build a geo-fence, an actual border beyond which the scooter cant be taken. Meanwhile, you can always track the scooter by using the companion app.

The Electric Prowess

The Flow scooter is powered by a DC electric motor and is backed by a lithium-ion storage. The battery can be charged in a matter of 5 hours and the makers claim a range of more than 80kms with a top speed of 60Km/h. In order to extend the battery life, commuters can also opt for an optional dual battery pack.

Drag Mode

This has to be the most thought out feature ever. The Drag mode is when your scooter is punctured and you want to drag it to the nearest garage. When the Drag Mode is switched on the Flow scooter pushes itself at walking speed.

Cruise Control

Cruise Control is a pretty common sight on cars but the Flow scooter has it too. The Cruise Control will allow riders to move at a constant speed just like in cars.

Reverse Mode and SOS

It seems like the makers of Flow scooter have laid utmost emphasis on the basics of commuting. The Reverse Mode will help in reversing the scooter from parking while the SOS mode will help you get in touch with emergency services with a touch of the button.

Other novelties include a 24-L boot space, smart companion app, 90-Nm of Torque, digital speedometer and a 5-ampere charging port. All said and done the Flow Scooter looks like a delectable offering on paper, we hope that the same is carried over to production as well.
