Jordan Spieth Drills Epic Bunker Hole-Out to Win Travelers Championship

What a scene it was today at Tpc River Highlands.  The crowds were massive, the weather was perfect, and there was electric in the air as Jordan Spieth and Daniel Berger headed into a Sudden Death playoff.

As Jordan struggled with his putter throughout Sunday’s round he couldn’t help but glance over at the scoreboard to see a charging Daniel Berger chipping away at his lead.

An incredible birdie putt on number 17 by Berger helped seal the deal on sending the event into extra holes.

As the two made their way back to the 18th tee the large Connecticut crowds jockeyed for position around the final hole.

Spieth and Berger had both previously pared the 18th hole with great shots out of the greenside bunker.  This time they each pushed their tee shots left, with Spieth being the worse off of the two after hitting a tree and leaving himself 225 yards to the green.

Jordan put his second shot in the same greenside bunker as his last time through and that’s when the magic happened.

After a wedge shot into the green Berger was left with a long birdie putt which would have forced another playoff hole, but unfortunately for Daniel, it just wasn’t in the cards.

The win was perhaps even more impressive for Jordan given that this was his first trip to TPC River Highlands.  Needless today, we’re sure he’ll be back again.
