Bath to Bristol on a longboard – BBM 2017 report

We’ve just got in from this year’s Bristol Board Meeting – and it was a blast!

This long-running longboard event is a day of longboarding, built around a distance push along an old disused railway line (now a cycle path) from Bath to Bristol. The aim is to raise as much money as possible via a raffle and individual sponsorship for charitable causes. This year we were raising for Clic Sargent, helping young people with cancer.

UPDATES:

  • The skater to raise the most amount of money through individual sponsorship will win a Lush Legend Complete – please get all your cash into the Just Giving Page by the 28th July
  • The raffle raised a total of £772.00!! Thanks to all who participated and to all our sponsors for donating so generously!

Event Report

The day started off in Green Park, Bath. Skaters from all over the UK gathered to do the push, and kicked off into perfect British Summer weather – when does that ever happen!!?

As the journey unfolded, we gradually watched Bath city centre give way to countryside, and with all that sunshine, the first few miles were very enjoyable indeed.

Skating together is always better!

A well earned break in the pub en route – cheers Neil!

Keep those bearings lubed…

About two thirds of the way to Bristol, we stopped at an abandoned railway station for a rest, a bit of a slide jam, and the raffle.

Chilling out in the shade at the raffle spot

The prizes this year came from a raft of generous sponsors – check this post out for the full list – and needless to say many eager skaters clutching raffle tickets awaited us as we got the prize pile together.

Treetop sticker toss!

The raffle was the highlight of the day – we raised a lot of cash for Clic Sargent and stoked a lot of skaters out with. Big up to all our sponsors for donating so generously!

Many stoked faces then kicked off for the final few miles back to Bristol, and a welcome close to the day.

Goofing for the camera around helps the miles go by…

Someone’s axle nut fell off right at the start… if you’re out there mate, get in touch and we’ll send you a new one for your heroic effort!!

A few skaters stopped off at Vandem Longboard Shop, a few minutes push from Bristol train station, to catch up, relax and check out the latest longboard goodness.

Please get your money in to the Bristol Board Meeting 2017 Just Giving Page – we’re over halfway to our target, and there’s more to come!
