Mavic Road Bike Cycling Shoes – The Perfect Cycling Shoes for Pros and Amateurs alike

We completely understand if, like us, you’ve completely fallen for the design of Mavic. So whether you’re looking for a new cycling helmet, road bike wheels, or mountain bike wheels, Mavic caters to your every need. Today, we’re taking a closer look at Mavic cycling shoes. Which road bike shoes suit what rider is something Agnes took a long and hard look at for us.

Innovative is a word which is definitely suitable to describe Mavic. The new Mavic Comete Ultimate, priced at 1000 euros, is their latest flagship model. While we don’t carry these road bike shoes in our collection, it does show that Mavic isn’t sitting around idly, instead investing heavily in innovation.

The recognisable yellow-black Mavic logo always stands out on their cycling shoes.

They’ve been around since 1889 and have particularly made a name for themselves when it comes to wheels, but they also offer a modest collection of cycling clothing, helmets, and Cycling Shoes. Particularly the Mavic cycling shoes are becoming increasingly popular, and not without reason.

Mavic Aksium and Mavic Echappée

The Mavic Aksium and Mavic Echappée are the two entry level shoes by Mavic for men and women respectively. The specifications for these two shoes are identical between the men’s and women’s versions.

No carbon soles under the Mavic Aksium, but high quality shoes at a fair price regardless.

The least expensive shoes in the Mavic collection still offer a lot of value for many. The sleek laces are in keeping with the latest trends and are something you see more and more with today’s shoes, and that goes for other top-end brands of cycling shoes as well.

The orange and dual grey colours go together nicely in the Mavic Aksium

The laces enable you to precisely adjust the fit of the shoe to your foot. The combination of nylon and carbon makes sure that the sole is comfortable yet rigid enough to effectively transfer your power to the pedals.

The Mavic Echappée is the women’s version of the Aksium.

The mesh on the front of the shoe offers ample ventilation on warm days. Shoe covers are recommended on cooler days in order to keep the cold air out.

Nothing wrong with a sleek white shoe!

All in all, a very complete shoe which is well-suited for first time riders who want to get going on the bike. The grey-orange men’s version is a personal favourite of mine.

Mavic Aksium Elite and Mavic Echapée Elite

If you have a little more experience and if you demand more performance from your shoes, then opt for the Elite version of the Aksium or Echappée cycling shoes.

The Aksium Elite has an extra closure strap to allow you to adjust the fit of the shoe on the go.

It’s close to the “regular” version of this cycling shoe. It does however feature an additional closure strap over the shoe.

The closure strap also neatly takes care of the laces.

You can easily tighten or loosen the strap during your ride and offers an even better fit than the laces alone.

The Mavic Echappée Elite has a nice and striking inner liner, especially designed for female riders.

While the colours are a little different, by no means are they any less good looking.

Mavic Cosmic Elite

The more expensive shoes get, the more advanced they become. Something which definitely shows in the Cosmic Elite cycling shoes. It features the fantastic Ergo Dial QR retention system which enables you to perfectly tune the shoes to your feet.

The Mavic Cosmic Elite is a real step up in the Mavic cycling shoes range. The carbon soles lowers the weight and offers ultimate rigidity.

The “fishing line” you adjust with this dial completely conforms to the shape of your foot, eliminating any unwanted pressure points. Together with the 2 straps placed lower down on the foot, you can perfectly tune the fit of the shoes to your demands, even on the go.

The wire retention system helps you adjust the tension around your feet to your needs, even on the bike.

The sole is also considerably more rigid because of the increased use of carbon. This means that you’re wasting less power while riding and that the shoes weigh a little less than their predecessors. The shoes are available in black and white or, when you’re going for the ultimate sleek look, in all black.

Mavic Cosmic Pro

The Mavic Cosmic Pro is one of the high performance road bike shoes made by Mavic. The sleek looks alone will help you ride a little faster. The sole is extremely stiff without compromising rider comfort.

The name says it all, with the Mavic Cosmic Pro you’re getting yourself a top end shoe.

Since the shoes are fully fitted with the Ergo Dial QR system, the fit can be tuned even more precisely to your natural preferences and can easily be adjusted during a hard ride. Something which is especially convenient in warm conditions when your feet start to swell a little.

The looks of the Mavic Cosmic Pro alone are to die for.

The shoes are true featherweights, so you’re not carrying a single gram you don’t need up those hills. The insoles are breathable and washable. A shoe designed for riders who place the highest possible demands on their equipment and kit.

How are Mavic cycling shoes being made?

If you think that all of these shoes simply roll of the end of an assembly line in a massive factory, you’re wrong. The clip below shows you just how much passion and dedication goes into each and every pair of Mavic cycling shoes.

No mass production then, but a painstaking process of looking at the demands of riders and working on the best possible shoes in conjunction with the pros.
