Growing into Ourselves

Tags: class stuck offer

Recently I learned something pretty important about life and I don’t think everyone has this revelation.

About a year ago, I was Stuck in this mindset where I thought life had nothing more to offer. And I don’t mean this in a suicidal way, I mean this in the sense that we sometimes get stuck in our own life, our own thoughts, our own typical patterns.

I’m all about stability but I realized that the things we remember the most are the moments where we pushed our boundaries.

Forcing ourselves to think outside the box and even venture outside the box is scary to some and terrifying to most. For many, the craziest thought in the world could be approaching a stranger in the store or public speaking.

My most common fears relate to failure or being alone.

I also have more basic fears such as trying something new; a new Class, meeting a new group of people, etc. Perhaps, this circles back to the idea of the possibility of failing?

However, the more I push down those barriers and meet new people and learn new things, the more I feel at one with myself and the happier I am.

Over the past year I tried a new style of yoga, I started taking a barre class, I reenlisted in an art class that I used to take in high school, I went to Vermont with my coworkers, and I even got a smart phone (the scariest of them all).

What I’m saying is that life has more to offer than sitting on your couch and watching YV. So many people are wasting their lives by letting it pass by without doing anything meaningful with it.

And I know when I’m 80 years old, I don’t want to look back and wish I had done my life completely differently. I know you don’t either.
