On Wednesday Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko addressed Beatrice Elachi the Speaker of the County Assembly with a letter stating, “I hereby forward my nominee, Lawyer Miguna Miguna to undergo a full vetting process and approval by the County Assembly for the position of Deputy Governor,” reads part of the letter. “The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the Constitution, the Leadership, and Integrity Act, the Elections Act, and County Government Act.”

After Polycarp Igathe resigned, the seat of the Deputy Governor was left vacant. Igathe is now joining Equity Bank as a Chief Commercial Officer. He resigned due to failure to earn the trust of Nairobi Governor. Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko now wants the seat to be given to Lawyer Miguna.

It was confirmed to Citizen TV by Lawyer Nelson Havi that Mike had nominated Miguna Miguna for the Deputy Governor of Nairobi.

Miguna who was supposed to come to Kenya from his deportation on Wednesday, May 16, cancelled his journey, blaming the government for failing to facilitate the re-entry to the country. Miguna said that he will soon be in Kenya after the court offers direction to the issue.

Governor Mike Sonko’s decision came as a shock to many, due to his bold move to nominate Miguna. Miguna having been on and off the country is likely to come back to Kenya and became the next Nairobi Deputy Governor.

Miguna Miguna has since retaliated in Miguna’s classic fashion: via Social Media. He insists that Mike Sonko and the government of Kenya is simply using this tactic on nomination Miguna as Deputy Governor to derail him. The former NASA Leader and NRM General insist that he will not join a “government of crooks.”
