This past weekend I was extremely fortunate to join the Scottish blogging elite, the #Scotlanders, to help VisitScotland promote the hit show Outlander!! Series 3 coming to our screens very very soon!

When asked by Laura Brown (‘laretour’) whether I’d like to join the team, in their quest to visit every Outlander destination in a weekend, I casually said ‘I think I am free’…… (always play it down Kristy). I lasted about half an hour before replying back to her ‘YES YES YES of course!!

As an Australian, I guess I share a similarity with the largely American audience who love the romantic view of Scotland…. the misty rolling hills, burley highlanders in tartan, the sounds of pipes conveying a mood of homesickness… even though I am not technically Scottish… but I can argue that fact.. for another time maybe!

I like to boast that my photography is heavily influenced by my childhood love of Australian Impressionism which portrayed an equally romantic view of the hardship of life in rural Australia. Applying this outlook to the wilderness of Scotland is just breathtaking. The soft light, the wild and rugged landscapes and the historical significance of every Castle is truly mind blowing for a #sassenach like me.

For this reason, I decided to play the Outlander in a series of photos and do a short video story to accompany the promotion. The Scotlander group made up of Neil Robertson, Laura Brown, Patricia Cuni, Sophie Maulevrier, David Weinczok and myself were divided into pairs.

I was paired with the original member, Neil Robertson (‘Travelswithakilt’) pictured below and our role was the hit the Northern locations. Our itinerary covered, Tibbermore Church, Drummond Castle and Gardens, Kinnloch Rannoch, Highland Folk Museum, Glenfinnan, Glen Coe, Ben Aan, Deanston Distillery and Doune Castle.
