4 Things to Do When You Get Your First Corrective Lenses

Getting your first Corrective Lenses is a life-changing event. Whether you are young or old, it will take some getting used to. However, there are now some things you can do that you’ve never done before, and should go experience. Once you receive your first corrective lenses, these are four things you can do.

Go See a Movie

There is nothing quite like going to see a movie on the big screen (or even a stage production) once you have gotten your first corrective lenses. You will probably be amazed by how much clearer a movie is on the big screen. You will be able to see more detail than you might have thought possible. It can make for a magical, amazing experience.

Get Your Driver’s License

If you are young and just got your eyes tested as part of driver’s ed, you may have discovered for the first time that you really need corrective lenses. You may also be older and suddenly unable to pass the vision test mandated by your state in order to issue a driver’s license. Once you know you need glasses to drive, go into an eye doctor for an exam and get a prescription for glasses. Once you’ve done that, you can go to the DMV and pass the vision test in order to get your driver’s license.

Get Sunglasses, Contacts or Other Specialty Glasses

Once you have your first pair of corrective lenses, you need to get supplementary ones as well. For example, if you play sports, you will either need contacts or glasses approved for sport use. Sunglasses are of particular importance because they protect your eyes from damage caused by UV rays. They should certainly be worn if there is snow on the ground due to the bright reflective nature of it.

Consider LASIK

If your vision is poor and you don’t want to deal with glasses, LASIK surgery is another option you might begin to pursue. Lasik surgery uses lasers to reshape the cornea and improve vision, like Cornea Consultants of Nashville practice. There are some criteria to qualify for this type of surgery. For example, you must be over 18 and not have glaucoma or cataracts. If this surgery is of interest to you so you can fix your eyes as opposed to continuously needing glasses, you can talk to your eye doctor.

Getting glasses can be a lot of fun, and there are experiences you can now have for the first time from an entirely different perspective. Take care of your health and have some fun. Corrective lenses can truly open up your eyes to the possibilities around you.
