In case you’ve missed this trending topic over the past few days, here is a refresher: Logan Paul is a “famous” YouTube vlogger, known for posting short comedic videos on his channel, once a day for the past few years. He’s amassed quite a following of young fans for his brand of silly/bro-like shenanigans. But last week he took things too far, and the internet has not been kind to him. You see, he went to Japan and behaved very disrespectful around locales in some videos, but the final straw was when he visited the famous Aokigahara Suicide Forest, for what he claims was meant to be a fun romp through the woods. But guess what happened in this suicide forest? He found an actual suicide. Now what he should have done, is turn off the cameras and call the police. But instead, he recorded the victim’s dead body.. up close and everything. He talked about how serious this was, but then also joked and laughed with his friends. Now, we all handle trauma differently… so to fault him for continuing to act silly is arguably not fair. One person might break down into tears or vomit at the site of a dead body, while another might laugh nervously. But what is universally agreed to be unacceptable, disrespectful and disgusting.. is filming the victim’s body, especially then uploading that video to your own monetized website. Because then it becomes an apparent attempt at using a tragedy to self-promote, which of course is… wrong.

While there is no question about that, the question that does linger is what should happen to this young entertainers career. When people fail on the internet, it often turns into a public disgracing that destroys their entire life. But how do we judge when that mistake is big enough to warrant deleting someone from the public eye, and when it’s just something that person needs to learn from and move on? Well deciding the answer to that starts with how that individual handles the aftermath of said mistake. In this case, Logan released an Apology video, that many consider being insincere. It’s always hard to accept an apology from a rich 20-something year-old who in the end actually gained followers to his channel, as much as he gained angry tweets from fellow vloggers and even celebrities. But is it possible the backlash will lead to a lesson learned, and an eventual comeback? Or is it all just a young millionaires attempt to save face?

A fellow famous youth by the name of Danielle Bregoli, the “cash me outside” girl from Dr. Phil, denounced his apology video on TMZ. Whereas accomplished celebrity Chrissy Teigen made several tweets calling for folks to maybe dial back the hate a bit…

“I’m not saying what he did wasn’t sick and stupid and his videos aren’t or haven’t been stupid, I’m saying…a lot of you don’t know what it’s like to have a campaign to end your entire being,” Chrissy Teigen via Twitter

So what do you think? When someone messes up in such a way, especially an internet celebrity/public figure, should their entire career be over? Should we take their public apology with a grain of salt and wait to see if they mess up again? We’ll share his apology video below, and you can be the judge. He deleted the actual suicide forest video but I’m sure with a bit of digging you can find someone who still has it…
