AN APPRECIATION OF THE LITTLE THINGS

Goodbye May! It’s been a beautiful month with unexpected, great weather. Waking up in the morning to sunshine and birds singing does something to your mood, it lights your spirit and sets you off to a great start. But for me, even if I wake up to rain or clouds I think it is important to look for the positive things. A grey day makes me appreciate the first cup of coffee even more, or the fact that I have an excuse to make a nice and hearty lunch to warm up. Because no matter how the weather is, an Appreciation of the little things in life is key. Whether that is meeting up with friends for a fika, exploring nature or enjoying some alone time and practicing self-care. So make sure to try and look for those little joys instead of focusing on what can’t be changed.

As we are well into June I wanted to remind you of the exciting competition I am running this month together with Kolla. Show how you find that Scandinavian feeling this summer with the hashtag #thatscandinavianfeeling on Instagram for the chance to win. Throughout the whole month all the images shared with the hashtag will be entered into the competition, and at the end of the month the winning photo will be sold on their website for a limited time. The winner will also receive their image as a print, and 100% of the sales will be donated to a charity of the winners choice. If you want to know more, read the original post here. Good luck!

Every month I feature four moments shared in the feed by you, and below you can find this month’s selection. These monthly little catch-ups are a great way to get to know each other and to discover new accounts, so make sure you click through to see more of their beautiful feeds and give them a follow.

“This image gives me a Scandinavian feeling because of the light and the atmosphere. This feeling can’t be bought, it is experienced when stress is absent, no topics of real discussion are taking place and all are feeling comfortable in their surroundings. When I took this picture I was with likeminded people experiencing a most wonderful and unforgettable day in a great Amsterdam Atelier with magical light!”

“I think that Scandinavian feeling is functional, natural, light wood and a mix of materials like wool, leather, linen and stone – cozy, solid and permanent.”

3 // @thepennyslane
“That Scandinavian feeling, for me, is all about contentment, cosines and simplicity. It’s the feeling of taking it slow and connecting with nature, my surroundings and others. There’s an authenticity to it too; an appreciation for what we have rather than focusing on what is missing.”

4 // @mackenzie_lian
“To me, it’s an appreciation of the little things – snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket, your favourite film and a strong cup of tea – and the warm feeling inside that comes with it.”

I hope you do join in and share your moments too by adding the hashtag. How do you find a Scandinavian feeling wherever you are? How are you enjoying the little things in life?

And if you haven’t already, make sure you head over to the #thatscandinavianfeeling feed and have a browse of all the entries we have had so far by clicking on the hashtag below:
