Enhance your space with a Modern Bathroom Sink

Tags: sink
With the rising population, the average area per capita is dropping significantly. This is majorly a concern in the urban and semi-urban areas of the world. This is crunching the space of our homes as well as offices and making every square meter of space dearer. Talking about the residential property, the reducing size of homes mean every single unit of the dwelling is shrinking. Your bathroom is one such unit and it is just like other units it is imperative to optimize the space in our bathrooms.

Bathrooms again can be divided into several areas- the shower area, toilet seat and the Sink. Sinks are one of the major subunits of the bathroom which can have a substantial impact on the overall space of the bathroom. Here are different types of sinks that you use to optimize the space of your bathroom.

Sinks can be classified into 3 major categories- top-mounting, under-mounting and wall mounting. On the basis of storage, they are classified as vanity sinks.

Top-mounting sinks are the sinks which are mounted on the top of a countertop unlike their counterpart- the under-mounting sinks, which set in a cavity (carved in the countertop). Wall-mounting sinks are simply mounted on the wall.

To make a sink, a vanity sink, storage cabinets can be added beneath it.

Vessel Sink (top-mounting)-

Vessel sinks are modern sinks that are aesthetically very attractive and mostly have a shape of a vessel, thus deriving the name vessel sink. Vessel sinks occupy very less space due to their simplistic design.

Pedestal Sink (wall-mounting)-

Probably the most common sink (as they are used by the masses) is the pedestal sink. A pedestal sink is a wall mounting sink which sits on a pedestal. A pedestal not only adds to the beauty of the sink but on the flip side occupies more space on the wall as well the ground.

Console Sink (wall-mounting)-

Console sink can be called as a variant of the pedestal sink. Instead of a pedestal, this sink has a console (a metallic frame/legs beneath) that hold/s the sink from the bottom while mounted on the wall. A console sink could also be used for storage by adding shelves to it. A console sink could a great option to economically get a storage space.

Semi-recessed Sink (top/under-mounting)-

These sinks partially overhang the counter and create a recess (space) at the back as they are partially protruding. They can be both; top-mounting and under-mounting as well as with or without vanity.

Washplane Sink (wall-mounting)-

Probably a sink which requires the least space is the washplane sink. A washplane sink is a wall-mounting sink the thickness of which varies. With the minimalistic design, a washplane sink looks futuristic and aesthetically very attractive.
