Picking the Right color Kitchen, The Step By Step Guide

Tags: kitchen

It’s true what they say; the Kitchen is the heart of the home. Whether you just moved or you’re a long-term tenant, when you decorate your kitchen you aim to make it look special. But the trickiest part is always choosing the right color scheme for your dream kitchen.

Use colors you love

When you decorate your kitchen, you want to be happy and content when you walk into it. Using colours, you love is a good place to start, sometimes it ends up being the right colour. If you love multiple colours, then visit a home improvement store like B&Q. Stores like these offer paint chips. They show you what colours go together.

The overall feel

Deciding on the overall feel of your kitchen plays a big part in selecting the colour. Do you want a warm looking kitchen? If so then colours such as khaki and butter will do wonders. Selecting a buttery yellow paint will give the wall a soft looking glow and are a lovely contrast to deep khaki coloured cabinets. However, if you prefer a cooler toned kitchen then a light grey paint paired with blue cabinets will give you look you’re after.

Kitchen Cabinets and Kitchen Doors

If you can’t decide on a colour, then use your kitchen cabinets. Cabinets are the focal point of a kitchen, so you want something that matches your style. If you have wooden cabinets, then pay attention the undertones. Some woods like pine have warmer undertones while other woods have cooler undertones.

The Kitchen Worktops

Your kitchen worktops might be the first thing people see when they walk into your kitchen. Most of the time people prefer a neutral worktop as they can be used in any kitchen and they don’t need to match anything. However, some people like specific worktops because they have a kitchen design in mind. If you are decorating your kitchen using cream tones, then the Egger Mali Wenge worktop would be a fantastic contrast. The look of the wood will contrast the softness of the kitchen. If you need something a little bigger than your average worktop then you can get this worktop as a breakfast bar.

If you are still unsure about picking a colour, then pop into a showroom and ask for some advice from interior designer. Showroom consultants are always happy to help you.
