New Automobile Safety Recalls

Do you drive, or have clients who have been injured in an accident involving a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck or a 2018 Ford Expedition?   Are you driving a 2018 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, or the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport, I advise you to read this piece about important automobile Safety Recalls.

It seems like every other week lately we are seeing major automobile safety recalls from automobile manufacturers. Last time we addressed the Ford Transit Van recall and this week Ford Motor Company leads the pack again. This week Ford is followed closely by Hyundai and Toyota. Here’s the deal:

Consumer Reports advises the Ford Motor Company has issued an automobile safety recall for 300,000 2018 Ford F-150 pickup trucks and Expedition SUVs because they might not stay in gear. Drivers are leaving their vehicles in Park, when they park, without engaging the parking break and they transmission jumps out of gear and rolls off.

The problem is two fold and has something to do with the gearshift cable and a clip that can come loose at any time. Part two of this automobile safety recall is the fact that the vehicles do not have a warning system to let the driver know the car is not in gear when the driver removes the keys and locks the doors. For specifics I suggest you contact The Ford Motor Company at 866-436-7332.

Hyundai and Toyota Recalls

These two companies have recalled roughly a combined 110,000 trucks and sport utility vehicles, including the 2018 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia, and the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport.

Hyundai says some of Santa Fe vehicles suffer the same problem that the Fords mentioned in an earlier Blog. Owners are at risk of the steering wheel disengaging from the steering column. This recall covers roughly 44,00 vehicles.

Toyota recalled roughly 65,000 Tundras and Sequoias, saying these vehicles are at risk for having their electronic stability control systems shutting down unexpectedly. I’m not sure exactly how the “electronic stability control system” but I don’t think loosing it while you are driving along would have a positive outcome.

So, if you drive any of these vehicles or you are a trial lawyer and have client’s injured, or killed in please read this piece.

Well, that’s all I have today but stayed tuned and I’ll bring you news of important automobile safety recalls as soon as I learned of them. Stay safe, avoid distractions and be a good example to your children as you drive. Phillip Miller 615-356-2000.
