Prescriptives Magic Liquid Powder in shade Deep Translucent 4 was and is still my Holly Grail powder of all times. I was not able to pick up some back-up containers before they quickly disappeared from the market when Px went bust. I have been desperately looking for a substitute and who would have thought it would appear in such a ridiculous juvenile collection.
The current Magically Cool Liquid Powder from M.A.C seems to be the same powder which was sold under the Prescriptives brand as Magic Liquid Powder. I have read on certain blogs, Make Up Alley etc, that MAC purchased/received the formula from Prescriptives. Both companies are owned by Lauder so this is plausible. But most importantly, I have used the Px version for years and now spent time with the MAC version and they are the same powder. Currently MAC is only offering two shades:
Cajun - sheer bronze shimmer which reflects gold (pictured)
Truth & Light - sheer shimmer which reflects silver and pink
The color Cajun works very well for me and is almost the same as my old Prescriptive - Deep Translucent Level 4. It does the same great job that Px Magic Liquid Powder did of adding radiance to my complexion, leaving a smooth finish over my foundation and cooling the skin upon application due to the 70% water in the formula.
I do plan on picking up a back up in case M.A.C does not release this in their normal range; however this would not be a sound business decision as there are so many women out there who want their Magic Liquid Powder back. I would only hope when it joins the normal collection, the packaging would closer resemble the Px packaging and they would bring back the same shades the Priscriptives offered. While the M.A.C version of this powder is cheaper, the size of the container is smaller meaning less product.
Well girls, for those of you who were deep translucent 4 under Prescriptives this is the perfect substitute. As a notice, the normal Translucent shade and Rose Gold is still being sold on the Prescriptives website for ladies who prefer this color. I am very happy to have found this as the original Prescriptives Deep Translucent 4 is currently being sold on eBay for a ridiculous $79 a piece. More than double the normal price when this powder was in circulation.
