St John’s Wort Ointment

Nicola makes various ointments all the time so we decided to share this simple method of making some St John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) ointment.  It’s good for bruises and sprains, aches and sore muscles and can also be applied to sunburn.  So here’s what you need to do to make your own St John’s Wort ointment.

Ingredients

  • 100ml of St John’s Wort infused flower oil (pick the flowers on a sunny day and place in a jar, add 100ml of olive oil and leave on a sunny window sill for 2 or 3 weeks)
  • 10g of bees wax

Ho to make St John’s Wort ointment

  • Pour the oil into a pan and gently heat

  • Add the bees wax and leave on the heat until all the wax has melted
