xbox360

I had the chance to try out the xbox360 at a local store where it was being showcased. It was early morning, and fortunately none of the game hogs were about.

The demo CD that was running on the mahine had several games that you could play; I chose call of duty 2 (CoD2) and the king kong game. I had already completed CoD2 on my laptop machine and enjoyed it(not as good as the predecessor overall). Having read so much about the gigantic graphical improvement for the next gen consoles, for the xbox360, I was expected the graphics to blow me away, but this was not the case at all. The graphics were not that much better than my laptop which is 2 years old with an old radeon graphics card. You could notice the graphical flaws when looking at complex objects which involved alot of detail. If you payed close attention, you will notice zigzag lines on the perimeters of objects were clear, far from the smooth graphics you have seen in pictures and trailers promoted by Microsoft. The King Kong game wasn't that impressive either. Other aspects of the console, such as the controller and look of the console were good.
If these are the games Microsoft think are worthy of exhibiting to the public, then I think xbox360 is not worth buying. Don't be a sucer for the hype. I'll wait to see what the PS3 has to offer.
