Raise your hand if you have stopped watching tv lately because you can’t find a Family Friendly show? If you could see me right now, I would be jumping up and down raising my hand as high as my 5’2″ frame would let me. I get so discouraged that we can’t sit down as a family and enjoy vegging out in front of the tube for some family friendly entertainment.
Sometimes I wonder if there’s any goodness left in the world. Bums me out.
That’s why I’m so excited that we’ve partnered up with BYUtv’s hidden-camera show Random Acts. It’s a family friendly show that highlights the good in humanity through surprise service projects and pranks with a purpose. They are all about celebrating the power in joy and kindness. One of the things I love the best about this show is it reminds me that no matter how busy our lives are, we are never too busy to spread a little cheer to those around us.
I know for myself, I get so caught up in my own little bubble that I forget there’s people out there needing some appreciation and recognition. It’s such a teachable moment for your children, too. Isn’t that what it’s all about? Passing down to my children the importance of being kind is at the top of my parenting goals.
One thing my family recently did as a Random act of kindness is purchase a washing machine for a single mother in need. My children and I overheard a need within our community and we saved our money back to fulfill that need. Paying it forward has always been such a blessing to my heart. But it doesn’t have to be something this grand to make the same impact on someone in your community….a simple note of encouragement goes a long way.
