Up & Away Scrapbook Page

Lay It Out

I’m excited to be sharing a scrapbook page along with a fun card for this months OSAT Blog Hop. The Up & Away Scrapbook Page features a single photo that I took of my soon during spring break when he flew a kite for the first time by himself! Can I just say… this is a HUGE event for our family. Caleb has multiple disabilities and something as ordinary as flying a kite is NOT easy for him. It truly was a wonderful moment seeing him, albeit briefly, flying the kite.

Project #1 – Up & Away Scrapbook Page

I choose to focus on just the one photo of him flying the kite. Since this was a major milestone, I didn’t want a lot of other photos or distracting elements. The background is created using Brusho Crystal Colour. Then I stamped a distressed background over the Brusho with a stamp from the Swirly Bird Stamp Set. The title is stamped using the Seize the Day Stamp Set. Using the “You Did It” is perfect for this page.

Since we are talking about kites, I loved the idea of using the clouds from the Up & Away Framelits along the edge of the scrapbook page. Keeping with the angle of the photo, I decided to also angle the photo in the layout. The journaling is printed on Whisper White cardstock then cut to fit the width of the photo.

The self-adhesive sequins and just a little bit of sparkle and focus from the Kite in the upper left corner down to the bottom edge of the photo on the right. I’ve also layered the Whisper White page onto a piece of 12×12 Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper.

Project #2 – Enjoy Life Card

Since this month’s theme is all about the idea to “Lay it Out” I opted to share a card featuring one of my favorite layouts. This layout is great for a quick card but can also be easily stepped up. For this card, I created an oval template then sponged starting at the top with Mango Melody then sponged over that with So Saffron down towards the bottom of the oval. Next, I stamped the cyclist with Blueberry Bushel Classic Ink. The sentiment is also stamped with Blueberry Bushel then layered with Silver Metallic Thread.

The In-Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is cut to 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and glued to the card base. I attached the stamped Whisper White layer with dimensionals along with the sentiment. And… there you have it, a quick easy layout for a fun card.
