I need to use up sandwich bags of junk! I can’t make myself toss all the goodies, but my drawers can hardly close they are so full. I thought it would be fun to decorate kraft Paper journals to use up junk….and so the Oregon Junk Journal was born.
I only ordered six journals because I wanted to make sure my junk journal idea worked and also to see if they would sell for my price point.
I decorated the Kraft Paper Cover with scrapbook paper and some images I got from magazines and books. I gave her a broken bracelet crown and necklace. Finally I attached a chain and a bell for the book mark that is permanently attached with hot glue at the top of one of the back pages.
This Junk Journal is “Bee Happy” and I used a magazine image under an actual metal picture frame. The heart shaped charm that is attached to the book mark string has a bee on it.
This journal is “Live Simply” and I attached several kinds of scrapbook paper and printed out a hinge on cardstock. I decorated it with buttons and a jewelry pendant that I made years ago that hasn’t sold.
Believe it or not, I got this advertising image from a magazine…it is a photo of an area rug! I covered the kraft paper cover with pretty scrapbook paper and used an old pendant that didn’t sell and some leaf charms.
I have held on to this Texas puzzle piece for about 10 years!!!! Yay I finally found a way to use it. I love the plaid scrapbook paper and the lizard charm attached to the book mark fits the Texas theme perfectly.
This journal features an assortment of used magazine papers plus a metal wine label and a garage sale turquoise pendant.
I made a quirky tag for them to be noticed!
I hope these will be a hit at my featured artist show for First Saturday Art Walk at Sunrose Gallery on December 1st. : )
