I’m hooked.  Gel transfer art is as fun as opening a gift, it is a magical process.  I have used decoupage for many years but since trying gel transfer  I think my decoupage days might be behind me!  I found some fairy lights I purchased years ago when I cleaned out a section of my attic storage.  However this picture looks just as pretty with the mini lights off:

I have been on the lighted picture band wagon since I made my EAT SIGN a few months ago and have a bunch of lighted picture ideas rolling around in my head.

I adore any Van Gogh so I found a photo I could print out with my inkjet printer.

Step One:  cover the canvas with a thick layer of Gel Medium.

Step Two:  place your photograph face down and press evenly over all the surface to make sure there are no bubbles or air pockets.

Set the picture aside for at least 5 hours, overnight is best so the gel medium is fully dry.  When it is fully dry put the picture under warm running water and gently rub, rub, rub the inkjet paper off and when you are finished the gel medium has absorbed the image of the picture and it is as if the canvas has been painted and it is  bee-u-ti-ful!

I played with the copper wire of the mini lights, turning the wire into little swirls which I attached with tiny dabs of hot glue and Aleene’s Tacky Glue.

Since the lights are battery operated, they needed to be attached to the canvas.

I stapled a folded plastic sheet protector on the back to form a pocket for the battery pack.

The fairy mini lights make the picture look so dreamy but the daytime look is fun too!
