REPURPOSED COLORING PAGE BUTTERFLY COLLAGE

When you are finished with a Coloring page you have made a true work of art!  The internet is full of pages you can download or you can get coloring books like this one on Amazon.

You always have the option of removing your finished page and put it in a frame, or you can go to your Glitter and use your butterfly as inspiration for an OOAK piece of art like I did.

GLITTER TINY SECTIONS AT A TIME

I used a bottle of school glue with an “orange top” and place the glue squeezing it in tiny sections that are going to be the same color.  Then sprinkle with glitter.  Set aside and don’t try another glue section until it is fully dry.  I have a set like this Extra Fine Glitter.

I learned a tip from Martha Stewart many years ago when she was making a glitter craft.  Take a piece of Cardstock and fold it in half making a crisp fold.  Every time you use glitter make sure you only use one color at a time over the cardstock.  When you have covered the glue on your project with glitter, shake it lightly over the cardstock and set your project aside.  Pick up the cardstock and fold it over your glitter container and shake it lightly.  The glitter won’t stick to the cardstock and flies into your container.  I actually have used the same piece of cardstock since 2007!  I slide that old piece of cardstock in next to where the glitter sits in my studio.

NOTE HOW THE GLITTER POPS AFTER ADDING A SECOND COLOR

I get out rhinestone junk jewelry to see where I want to add some bling! NOTE: I added the second color of glitter to some of the first glitter.  The project would go a lot faster if you didn’t have to wait for the glue to dry, but if you cheat the edges won’t be crisp and sharp.

Coloring Page Butterfly

This is finally finished.  Remember to use EXTRA FINE GLITTER.  The finished butterfly would be pretty in a shadow box but I love any excuse to use my washi tape and have a box full of magazine flower images plus pretty magazine fonts.

REPURPOSED COLORING PAGE BUTTERFLY COLLAGE

I used Mod Podge to attach the flowers and leaves and went through my magazine font letters to spell “FLY”.

Hope this inspires you to make a beautiful Glitter Creation with your own colorbook art!
