Baby Mittens

When you think of mittens, you would normally think of a glove like item that has a spacing for your fingers and a separate space for your thumb. However, these are Thumbless Baby Mittens that are very easy and fast to Crochet. Both the right and left mittens are worked in the same pattern.

These would make a sweet gift for someone who is expecting. You can also make variety of sizes so that the baby can continue to wear them as they grow.

The sizes can be adjusted accordingly with the starting chain stitches. There are no set number of Stitch counts involved for making different sizes. You just need to work in continuous rounds making increases in the last two stitches till you reach the size required.

Materials Used:-

  • Vardhaman Baby Soft wool
  • 4 mm Crochet Hook

Need Supplies?

Start with Chain 6.
2 Single Crochet in the 2nd chain from the hook.
Single crochet in the next 3 stitches and in the last stitch do 2 single crochet.

Do not turn your work.We will be working in continuous rounds.
Repeat the same pattern on the other side as well.

Keep repeating the increase rounds till you reach the required size.
I made total 27 stitches.

Once you reach the size required, stop with increases and work single crochets in each stitch around.

I made it to 3 inches.
For adding the string we will be making loops.
Start with chain 2,skip next stitch and work 1 double crochet in the next stitch.
Repeat it all around.

Start the next round with 2 single crochet in the same stitch.Work 1 single crochet in each stitch till you reach the other side, then work 2 single crochet in corner most stitch and finish off the round by working 1 single crochet in each stitch around.
This would give a flared cuff to the mitten.
Make 3 rounds for the flared cuff.
You can add Satin Ribbon or you can add a Twisted corded.
