Owlivia and the Owlets: Part 2

We were so very excited to have an owl resident and it was heartbreaking that the horrible storm came through when it did. After at least 2 years of no owl residents, the first time an owl just gets settled in the tree comes down. But our Mom owl was not going to let that get in her way.

We decided that our owl needed a name. One of our wonderful blogging and Facebook friends suggested Owlivia. An absolutely perfect name! Derived from Olivia, a lovely Shakespearean name with an admirable balance of strength and femininity. That sums up our owl perfectly!

Each evening around dusk, Owlivia would appear and head out for her evening snack.

I had a feeling that the Owlets had hatched due to activity in the Owl Shack during the day. Through some small holes on the side of the house you could see movement and fuzzy feathers.

Wanting to catch a glimpse of the owlets, we took a quick look. They were safely tucked away under Mom.

Each day Owlivia would emerge at dusk to obtain her evening meal for her and her owlets. It was neat to hear her climb up the insides of the shack when she would exit.

I then started to hear more activity in the owl shack during the day. We were very committed to not disturbing them but took one last peak in the owl shack and were rewarded with two beautiful owlets.
