NITTE MEENAKSHI Institute of Technology (NMIT) is an Autonomous Institution affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), with the approval of UGC. The department of EEE was started in the year 2001 with a sanctioned intake of 60 students. The department has been accredited in 2009 and 2014. The main areas of learning in this program pertain to principles and analysis of equipment and systems used in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy.
Other areas of learning pertain to electronic devices and circuits used in the measurement, instrumentation, control and protection of electric equipment’s and conversion systems.
Students also learn concepts related to computers and applications for computer based systems used in the design, analysis and operation of power system. The faculty members always strive to impart knowledge in the best possible manner to the students. Quality and standard of teaching is always a priority for the faculty members.

The department offers a UG (B.E) program in EEE and a PG (M.TECH) program in Renewable Energy. The department is recognized as a research center by VTU and offers M.Sc. (by research) and Ph.D. programs.

Eligibility

- The minimum eligibility for this requires, passing the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subjects such as Physics and math’s as compulsory subjects along with other subjects like Chemistry, Computer Science, Biotechnology, and Biology.
- Minimum percentage of marks in class 12/ higher secondary Examination is generally from 50% to 55%.
- Since most institutions have an Entrance Exam; the students who have appeared in Higher Secondary Examination and are awaiting results can apply too.
- Some colleges like Bharti Vidyapeeth University also offer Direct Entry for this course along with an Entrance Exam.
- The eligibility for this requires the student to have Diploma in Engineering by an institution recognized by All India Council for Technical Education.
