Introduction
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance examination for law admissions. All National Law Universities along with other private colleges will accept the score of CLAT 2020. The exam will be conducted and administered by the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi. CLAT 2020 will offer admission in courses like B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) and one year LL.M. program in Corporate Laws and IPR Laws. The exam will likely be held in the month of May and the application process might start from January 2020.

CLAT 2020 will most likely be held in the third
or last week of May 2020.
Mode of Answering
The application form for the examination will be filled online. CLAT
2020 will be held in the offline mode.
Medium of Examination
CLAT 2020 will be held
in English language only.
CLAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Courses
– The candidate should have passed 12+2 examination with a minimum of 45% marks for General/OBC/Specially Abled categories and 40% marks in case of SC/ST category.
– No upper age limit for undergraduate courses.
– Candidates who are eligible for the qualifying exam in March/April 2020 are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2020. Evidence of passing qualifying examination will have to be submitted.
– In case of equal marks, the following procedure will be followed –
- Higher marks in legal aptitude section of CLAT 2020.
- Higher age.
- Computerized draw of lots.
– There is no limit on the number of attempts of CLAT.
Postgraduate Courses
– The candidate should possess an LL.B. degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 55% of marks or its equivalent grade for General/OBC/Specially Abled/PwD/NRI categories and a minimum of 50% for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
– No upper age limit for postgraduate courses.
– Candidates who are eligible for the qualifying exam in March/April 2020 are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2020.
– There
is no limit on the number of attempts of CLAT.
How to apply?
Currently, the application portal is closed. The application process of CLAT 2020 will begin in January 2020. The application form for CLAT 2020 will be filled online only.

The application fee can only be paid online. Previous year’s question papers are available for Rs. 500/-. The application fee is non-refundable and any other charges levied by the bank have to be borne by the candidate.
Payment of Application Fee for CLAT 2020 must be done online via Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking.
Documents to be Uploaded
- Recent passport size photo with a plain background.
- Signature of the candidate
- Category certificate if the candidate is applying under SC/ST/OBC.
- Relevant certificate issued by a competent authority if the applying candidate is PwD or comes under the BPL category.
- Relevant
Certificate for State of Domicile issued by the revenue department.
Step-by-Step Application Procedure
Step 1: Visit the CLAT 2020 website and register for a new account
Students are required to register themselves in the CLAT 2020 website (http://clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in) once the application process begins.
Step 2: Enter your Mobile Number and Email Address
Registration will be done using a personal mobile number and email address. An OTP will be sent to the given mobile number for verification. Once the number is validated, candidates can log in to their accounts using their mobile number and password.
Step 3: Fill the Application Form correctly
The application form will be opened. Candidates should fill the form carefully. The name of the Candidate the parents should be spelt correctly and should match the names on identity proof/certificates/mark sheets.
Step 4: Fill in all the details
Fill in all the personal details, communication details and the course details.
Step 5: Upload the Documents
Upload the documents, photograph and the signature of the candidate. Follow the size guidelines given for each uploading document.
Step 6: Fee Payment
The last step is the payment of the fee for CLAT 2020. Please check your application for any errors before completing this step. No changes can be made after the submission of the application form.
Admit Card
Candidates can download the admit card by logging into their account on the official CLAT 2020 website. Admit cards will be available for last week April or first
week of May. The final date of release will be put up on the website.
Examination Pattern
– The exam duration of CLAT 2020 will be 2 hours.
– There will be 200 multiple-choice questions.
– For every correct answer, the candidate will get one (1) mark and for every incorrect answer, a quarter of a mark (0.25) will be deducted.
– The total marks of the exam are 200.

Result
The result of CLAT 2020 will be announced in the first half of June 2020. The result will be declared on the official website of CLAT.
Counselling
The admission to UG and PG programmes in participating universities under CLAT 2020 shall be completed through centralised online counselling conducted by the CLAT Consortium Office. The basis of allotment of seats shall be ‘merit-cum-preference’, i.e., the CLAT Rank, the order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form and the category/categories selected by the candidate in the online application form and the number of seats and their
division/break-up as available in each of the participating NLU. Online counselling shall start after the declaration of CLAT-2020 results.
