AICTE Common Management Admission Test – 2019 (CMAT – 2019)

Introduction


Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year for MBA/PGDM admissions across India. It is a three hour computer based test which evaluates the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. The test scores are accepted by all AICTE – approved management institutes/university departments/constituent colleges and affiliated colleges. CMAT 2019 is expected to be conducted in the month of January 2019.

CMAT 2019 Important Dates

Mode of Answering


CMAT 2019 will be a computer based online test and will be conducted in a single session.

CMAT 2019 Exam Date


CMAT 2019 will be held in the 3rd week January 2018.

Medium of Examination


Based on the previously conducted exams, CMAT 2019 too would be conducted in English only.

CMAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria


Nationality


Applicants must be a citizen of India.

Qualifying examination


Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university can apply for CMAT 2019.

Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2019-20 can also apply for CMAT

Age limit


There is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT 2019.

Number of attempts 


The exam is conducted only once every year, so the candidate can appear only once per year. Though, there is no restriction in the number of attempts.

CMAT 2019 Application Form


CMAT 2019 applications aren’t released yet, but it is expected to release by 2nd or 3rd week of October 2018.

The registration for the exam is only via online mode. Detailed instructions for the online application and registration process will be available on this website www.aicte-cmat.in.

Application Fee


The fee for General / OBC candidates appearing for CMAT 2019 is expected to be Rs.1400 + Bank charges as applicable; whereas for Female/SC/ST/PWD category candidates fee is expected to be Rs.700 + Bank charges as applicable.

Payment can be done via two modes –

  • Online payment: This can be done by using Credit cards/ Debit cards/ Net banking.
  • Cash payment in SBI Bank: After selecting this option, 3 filled copies of the available CHALLAN should be downloaded, and on the following day only, payment can be made in the nearest SBI branch. In this mode, confirmation of the payment will take up to 48 hrs, before it is updated in the registration portal.

Photograph & Signature Dimensions


  • Scanned, clear photo, with a white background should be uploaded. The size of the photo should be 140 x 160 (≤ 60kb).
  • Scanned signature, on a white background, should be uploaded. The size of this signature should be 60 x 90 (≤ 30kb)

Application Process


  • Self registration

First time applicants should apply as a “New User”. After reading the instructions carefully, applicants should accept the declaration and proceed.

  • City choice

Applicants should enter 3 preferred test cities. This data cannot be changed once submitted.

  • Password generation

Once all the data is submitted, a password will be generated. The copy of the same will be sent to the applicants email ID.

  • Payment

Payment can be made either online or via cash mode.

CMAT 2019 Admit Card


CMAT 2019 Admit cards will be downloadable once it is available on the website (www.aicte-cmat.in). The tentative date will lie in the 1st week of January, 2019. The applicants need to print the admit cards and produce it during the day of the exam. Admit cards won’t be sent as a hard copy by mail, but a copy of the admit card will be sent to the email address provided by the applicant.

CMAT 2019 Exam Pattern


  • Exam duration

CMAT 2019 will be 180 minutes or 3 hours long. There will be no breaks provided in between.

  • Type of exam

It is a computer based test. It consists of both objective questions presented as Multiple choices (MCQ’s) as well as objective type questions.

  • Maximum marks

There are 4 sections and each section has a total of 100 marks. Thus, an applicant is awarded a total out of 400 marks.

  • Total number of question

Each of the 4 sections comprise of 25 questions, which sums up to a total of 100 questions in the paper.

  • Marking scheme

Correct answers are awarded 4 marks and there shall be negative marking for wrong answers. For each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted.

CMAT 2019 Result


The CMAT 2019 results will be made available online in their website (www.aicte-cmat.in) tentatively in the month of February 2019.

The candidates can download their scorecards from the website using their respective login credentials. Along with the scorecard, AICTE will also release an all India merit list, where the candidates can view their roll number, name, rank and score.

CMAT 2019 Counseling


CMAT 2019 counseling will tentatively begin from May 2019. The candidates will be allotted college, according to their rank in the merit list. The same merit list will be sent to various management colleges for the allotment of seats through the central counseling. Simultaneously, if counseling isn’t conducted or the candidate wishes to apply directly to a B-School,  they can approach the colleges directly with their score cards for admission.
