Kids Saving the Rainforest

Ava, 6 yrs old, the youngest member of the Mad Hippie team, spent the last 6 weeks printing and selling t-shirts to raise money to, “save the animals”.  When she learned that monkeys and sloths were in trouble in Costa Rica due to growing development, she knew she couldn’t just stand by and watch.  Ava, with her mom, Dana, one of Mad Hippie’s co-founders, decided they would print t-shirts with Ava’s drawings of animals and sell them in front of their local grocery store here in Portland.

After raising hundreds of dollars, Ava was able to visit the refuge, Kids Saving the Rainforest  (http://www.kidssavingtherainforest.org/), in Costa Rica and present them with the money she raised.

Here’s a picture of the sloth that Ava has adopted.  This baby sloth is nursing back to health in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and is looking to return to the wild soon!

Mad Hippie is proud of our youngest member’s efforts to save the animals.  Mad Hippie gives $1 off every web sale to non-profit conservational efforts.
