Dental Treatment for Animals

A Hungarian dentist gave him fillings

A Dentist of Hungarian heritage, Peter Kertesz, made fillings for three back teeth (molars) of Amir, a nine-year-old Sumatran tiger, in Howlets Wildpark in Kent.

The tiger was, of course, under natural anesthesia, while the Hungarian Dentist was working in his mouth.

In addition, Amir had three broken front teeth, which were carious. Although they did not cause any pain, the director of the predator department, Ben Warren, was of the opinion that these fillings also have to be made for prevention, so the animal does not suffer pain again.

Dental procedures are actually more of a challenge with tigers. The tooth roots in tigers can be namely, in comparison to the roots of an average person, be up to six times longer! But the Hungarian dentist has mastered this intervention brilliantly.
