Interim No More: Dombi Named President of NAHC

Dombi joined Washington, D.C.-based NAHC in 1987 as vice President for law. He assumed the interim president position after Val Halamandaris, long-time NAHC president, passed away.

“It is a great honor to serve as the president of NAHC at a time when home care and hospice have moved into the forefront of health care as the leading solutions for truly patient-centered care,” Dombi stated in a press release issued Tuesday.

Dombi is also director of the Center for Health Care Law, a nonprofit, public interest law firm established by NAHC, and executive director of the Home Care and Hospice Financial Managers Association, a professional organization for individuals who work for consulting, planning, management, financial or CPA firms who are employed by home care agencies.

“No one knows more about this industry than Bill does and no one is more trusted in the industry,” Denise Schrader, chair of the NAHC board of directors, said in Tuesday’s press release. “Bill’s knowledge of law and policy, as well as his experience and familiarity with the NAHC staff and members, make him the perfect person for the job.”

NAHC is the largest trade association for the nation’s roughly 33,000 home care and hospice providers. The organization is currently busy on multiple fronts, notably in advocacy efforts related to a new home health payment model that was included as part of the recently enacted federal budget bill.
