1. Yogurt

Yogurt is probably one of the first things you’ll hear from anyone giving your digestive advice. That’s because yogurt contains probiotics, which are bacteria that help your body break down and digest foods. The more you have, the better.

Look for yogurts that contain at least 100 million active cultures. You can tell which ones are best by checking the label. Adding this into your breakfast will give your body a probiotic boost.

2. Ginger

Ginger has long been used as a supplement, a spice, and even medicine in eastern countries for thousands of years. This spicy plant has been shown to aid digestion and even help with upset stomach symptoms like nausea.

Studies have also shown that it aids with saliva flow, and can even help with lowering blood sugar.

3. Bananas

Bananas help regulate your bowel functions, especially if you’ve suffered from diarrhea. Not only does this helpful fruit restore your electrolytes, but it also provides potassium that can be lost. Top it off with a healthy dose of fiber, and you have a nutrition-packed digestive aid.

4. Kimchi

Kimchi is a fermented food that’s very popular in Korea. It is packed with healthy vitamins, but more importantly, it also contains probiotics like yogurt does. The presence of lactobacilli, which is found in other fermented foods as well, helps replenish healthy bacteria in your body. Since this may be a foreign food to many of us, try picking some up from the grocery store. It can be used as a topping for eggs, potatoes, or even thrown into a stew.

5. Lean Meat
