Episode 2912 Is Stress Bad Ask JB

[00:00:10] Good morning and welcome to Morning Coach today. I am so glad you’re with us. As you know, my name J.B. Glossinger, and this is your personal evolution system, the place to get your morning started right. Welcome, welcome, welcome, and I’m so glad you’re with me today as we’re rocking and rolling and having some fun. And that’s what it’s about here at Morning Coach, putting this good energy out there day after day so that we can make a difference in the world.

[00:00:36] I’m super pumped today because we’re starting a new kind of area here at Morning Coach and it’s the Ask J.B. area. Basically, I have a place up on the site. You go to morningcoach.com, and you put in, up in the navigation, you’ll see Ask J.B., and you can put a question there. There’s two ways. One is, you can record it, and you can say, “Hey J.B., this is whoever from wherever, and this is my question.”

Or two, you can put it in a comment. So far, we’re getting more comments than recordings, but that’s cool. And then what I’m going to do is bring it in here on Thursdays. I’m going to do three of them today. But each of these questions could be a whole podcast themselves. And that’s why I’m going to start breaking them down on Thursdays, because the questions are just unbelievable. Couple various topics, but they’re unbelievable.

[00:01:22] My original topic for this day was “is stress bad?” And I will make a mention of it, that, you know, stress normally is. It’s something we’re trying to avoid. We’ve got M/M coming up, Mindfulness and Meditation for Busy Professionals starting next week. Part of the thing that we want to do is avoid stress, right? And we’re going to talk about that or letting it go out of our life.

But there is some time when we need it in our life, and that’s when we over-stress our self through training or through controlled injury- that’s really what weightlifting is- so that we over stress our body and then we recover stronger. Right? So stress doesn’t, isn’t always a bad thing. So, I don’t want to say it’s always a bad thing. But in general, we are over-stressed where we have adrenal fatigue. And you know, it just, we’re not where we need to be.

[00:02:05] So, we’ve got to be careful with that. And I’m coming with the solution to that starting on Monday as we’re going to delve into 11 weeks of really understanding mindfulness and meditation at a different level than you ever have, and even myself. I mean, I’m super pumped about this. And it’s going to, like I said in the email I sent yesterday, the person that I’m, the person to take, if you take this course and you’re with me and you get into it, will not be the same person afterwards. I can guarantee that. You will, you will really find some peace. And that’s what it’s about here at Morning Coach. OK?

[00:02:37] So, let’s get into the Ask portion. And I Love this and I’m excited about it. And if you’ve got a question, please feel free to go up into Ask J.B. on the site and post it, because your questions are what other people have and you’re serving the community and serving the world by asking them because they help other people. So, I’m just going to go through the list. And the first one, from Ingvi from Iceland, says this, he says, “I’ve got some good friends that I’ve been trying to help or guide so that they can have a better life.” I think a lot of us have done this, right? “Basically, telling them and showing them what I’ve learned from Morning Coach Meaning, being mindful, eating right, exercise correctly, get some goals in place, have some purpose.

And I’ve even let them listen to you and tried to convince them to try out Morning Coach, but they really don’t listen. Some of them try a bit, but they really don’t listen or even consider going for it. So, they keep on living their ‘zombie life’ where they just go as they’re told, not thinking about anything.” And he says, “This frustrates me,” because he loves his friends and he wants the best for them. “So, my question is, are there any other methods I can use to guide them to a better life? Or am I wasting my time and energy, so should I stop and let them go? Much love, Ingvi from Iceland.

[00:03:45] Ingvi, so, that’s a great question. I think we all deal with this at some point, and that’s dealing with friends that don’t really get it. Right? And the thing you got to understand is, it’s not the fact that maybe they don’t get it at this moment, but the timing’s not right. You know, we all live a different experience, and they’re having a different experience. And so, when we try to force things on somebody- and even me, Morning Coach, right?- they push away from it. It’s like, they got to kind of find themselves.

[00:04:10] So, the best way that you can elicit change to help somebody that you love is to 1) lead by example so that they ask you what you’re doing and 2) the next thing is to visualize them in a different role. See the positive. See them doing the things that they enjoy. You know, make suggestions, but let them find their own path. It’s challenging, I know. You know, people come to me for business stuff all the time. And, you know, they’ll say, you know, “I need your help. How do you podcast?” or “How do I get coaching clients?” or “How do I build my business?” I say, “Listen the Morning Coach.” You know, “Do the personal development,” you know? And they’ll look at me and say, “No, but what is the real secret?” And the real secret is doing that, but they don’t listen. Right?

[00:04:54] So, I don’t think you ever need to let them go if you love them, but you have to recognize their time isn’t right. You have to do your studies even more, so that you are able to deal with the challenges that come up when they question the belief. But if they’re complainers and they’re, you know, not doing the things to get themselves better and they just complain about life, sometimes you’ve got to kind of create some separation from them. So, don’t let them go. Continue to lead by example. Get excited about things. Talk about the things you’re learning. Talk about the good things that are going on. And eventually, they’re going to say, “Wow, I want to know. I want to know more about that. What are you doing? What did you do.

[00:05:31] So, my suggestion, Ingvi, is to not try to convince them, you know, to try out Morning Coach. Just live by example. Be a little bit more positive and a little more happy. Make sure you are mindful. Bring peace. When they start talking about all the negative things, talk about the positive things. Be that beacon of light in their life. And eventually, they’re going to wonder where it’s coming from, and that’s when you bring them around. Right?

[00:05:55] And the truth is- and this is always hurts me to say this, but it’s true- not everybody resonates with me. You know, I mispronounce words. You know, it’s just J.B., you know, you know me, right? And so, not everybody resonates with me, and that’s fine. There are a lot of other teachers out there, and sometimes they got to find their path. So, don’t push. Don’t try to convince. Just lead by example, and I think you’ll get much further. And if somebody is just really being negative and it’s just, they’re just not getting there, you can love them, just create a little more separation. Fantastic question, that was.

[00:06:28] Anja had one. She didn’t really want me to put on the, on the podcast, but she did have one that I thought was really good that she did want to question. She put this on Facebook and I thought it was a great question. And it kind of relates to our brainwashing kind of session. And she says, “I’ve stayed away from negative media as much as possible, and staying as positive as possible.

But if we, as privileged individuals, don’t stand up and get involved and help the voiceless, then isn’t our silence saying a lot as well? In the end, we don’t want to get caught up in separation and division by getting into Facebook arguments and posting negative things that are happening. But is staying silent about issues making us look like we are complacent? Like I can afford to stay silent since I’m not directly involved? Thank you for your input. You rock!” Thank you, Anja.

[00:07:14] So, this is another great one because people always try to say, “Well J.B., why aren’t you political? Why don’t you take a side in these things?” Because it doesn’t matter. I choose to fight the arguments that are going to make a difference. Right? And so, we have a lot of Facebook warriors out there, and I un-follow a lot of them. I mean, they just, there’s so much hatred. Right? And again, I don’t care what side of the fence you are on, you’re not doing anything by posting stuff on Facebook. You’re just not. How do you how do you really make change? You become a leader. You become a leader by either generating more revenue or creating more of a followership base where you’re connecting with people.

[00:07:51] If you’re just getting people riled up- which is what people do on Facebook- and getting people to agree with you- those are just people that are hiding behind the computer trying to be computer warriors- you’re not making a difference at all. Right? You’re really not. You’re just getting people frustrated, and there’s nothing going on. People are going, “Amen.

[00:08:07] Where the change really occurs, is as you become a leader and as you get out there and people listen to you and follow you, then you can make an impact. And that’s when you say something. When you’re ready to say something. You’ve thought about it. You understand what you’re going to say. You’re not getting, you’re not taking sides from a brainwashed perspective because of the emotion. You’re being very tactical about what you’re saying. And you’re going to be real, and it’s going to be you. You’re going to make your point. OK?

[00:08:37] And I think that’s so critical with what I see going on on Facebook today. It drives me crazy. I see people literally being brainwashed; I see it on both sides. They’re just taking sides of a point and just getting angry and so emotional about it. But what are they really doing? That’s the thing. What are you really doing? Are you a solution or are you becoming more of the problem? Is anything really happening? Well, I got to tell you something, nothing’s really happening on social media. Where it happens is with real people coming together and making a difference.

So, if you don’t like the current situation, then vote somebody else in and get people together to do that. But that’s not going to happen on Facebook. You’re not going to change somebody else’s opinion on Facebook. You’re either just going to rile them up even more to polarize them even more, or you’re going to get them to move away from you and de-friend you and move away. It doesn’t make any sense.

[00:09:27] It’s like social media warriors. You know, I get that people think they’re actually having impact on social media, but they’re not. They’re not. And that’s the thing I think that’s the problem. They’re alienating their friends. They’re alienating their family. Or they’re bonding with people with their like mine. And I got to tell you something, you don’t want to be with everybody that has the same thought process. If you are the smartest person in the room or everybody is thinking exactly the same way, you are in the wrong room. I’m telling you that right now, we need diversity. You need diversity. And so, what kills diversity is when you strike out in anger against somebody else and you create separation. And we’ve got to be very very cautious of that. OK?

[00:10:07] So, we’ve got to be very cautious of creating separation. And you got to be very cautious of the arguments and the things that you’re doing, and look at it from the macro-scale of “is it really making a difference?” and “what am I doing here?” “What is my objective?” By posting stuff in the media that’s about the president or posting stuff for the president or posting about kneeling and the NFL, all that stuff, what is it really doing? It’s not doing anything.

So, are you saying- and, and this, I love this- because if we don’t, the voiceless. Their silence isn’t saying anything. You are never silent. You’re picking and choosing your battles, and I’m going to tell you, Facebook is not a place to do that. And there’s really nothing happening there and you’re not going to convince anybody. It’s kind of like trying to get somebody to convert to a religion. That’s not going to happen. Right? It’s not going to happen.

[00:10:52] You’ve got to lead by example. Show the way you live, and that’s what’s going to do. You’re not going to change beliefs. Try to do business on the internet. You might go on Facebook and get somebody into a multilevel marketing company. Possibly try to get somebody to join you in anything that you’re doing, and it’s really challenging. If you want to polarize and get people into the negative and fight and argue, yes, you’ll get people and they’ll say “amen!” with you and then half your people disappear. I mean, are you really, are you really leading then?. Are you really being a leader or are you just pushing people away? True leadership understands that you’ve got to be able to choose your arguments and then make true impact. And that’s not happening on social.

[00:11:32] That’s such a great question, Anja. That’s such a great question. So, you’re never being silent, but you’re being very tactful in the battles that you’re going to choose. And you’re going to lead so that when you do say something, you say, “Hey, I think we should go this direction,” people actually listen to you, and you’re just not crying wolf on Facebook every day. Right? Amazing question. I love that. So, your silence isn’t saying anything.

You’re just not getting involved in all the noise that really isn’t doing anything anyways. It’s not make any change. Nothing’s changing. You’ve got to be a leader that’s going to make change, and you do that when you think that time is appropriate and you know that it’s actually going to do something. Otherwise, it’s just, you’re just blowing in the wind. Right? And that’s what a lot of people are doing on Facebook right now. It’s a struggle. OK, cool. That’s a awesome question.

[00:12:20] Another one. Harriet says this and asks, “Hey, I would like to ask about focus and careers. I’m a mother of two children,”- I love that- “6 and 2, and there are two career paths I would love to follow. One would be as a Reiki therapist, helping people on their healing journey, and the other is start designing and making clothes and develop a fashion business. Is it better to pick on one and focus on it, or have one main daily career and build the other one up on the side? It would be hard for me to let either one go as both leave me peaceful and fulfilled. Thank you so much for everything! Harriet.

[00:12:51] Yeah, I think this is a great question, again. And I get this a lot because I get a lot of people that have a ton of irons in the fire. They’re trying to figure out what to do. So, there’s a couple of questions you ask yourself. So the first one is, is it your passion business? Meaning, your passion business is you would do it if you didn’t make Money or not. Right? So, that’s something you would never give up. Why? Because you’re passionate about it. You love it.

Why would you ever give it up? You love it anyway. So don’t give it up. But the second thing you need to understand is, what is your net balance and are you making money? Is the market accepting it? Because if the market is not accepting it, we need to eat. We need to live. Right? So, we’ve got to create something that’s going to work.

[00:13:28] What I see a lot of times is people have multiple passion businesses and nothing making money. Sometimes, we got to bite the bullet, and we’ve got to have a job. Right? We’ve got to take whatever we got to do to get the money and then build something on the side. Depending on where you’re at this particular moment- and this is a real complicated question because I don’t know your life situation, Harriet, totally- you know, depending on your life situation, if money is not an issue, then you can keep them both going. Right?

There’s no reason you can’t be a Reiki practitioner during the day and then do some clothes and stuff at night. That’s fine. But if neither of them are working and neither are generating revenue, you need to pick one until one starts generating revenue and then you can start to diversify a little bit. Remember, what we focus on expands. And so, we’ve got to make sure that we’re either generating revenue or we’re in love with it. And the truth is, if we’re in love with everything and nothing’s making money, you’ve got to, you’ve got to step back and get something making money. It’s very important. And I see that a lot.

[00:14:27] So, it’s not just follow the money. But, you know, are you willing to hustle? Are you willing to do what it takes? It’s a very complicated question. But personally, what I would say is, you’ve got to get something making money. If you have one thing making money, then it’s OK to kind of diversify a little bit. If you have nothing making money, pick one. Get one working. And then you can start to diversify. OK? So, it’s important if you don’t have one thing going, then you’ve got to get something going that’s generating money before you start doing a bunch of different things, because then you’re going to do a bunch of different things and nothing’s going to make money, and you’re going to burn out. And that’s an issue. OK?

[00:15:03] Some amazing questions. These are great questions. I mean, just awesome. Thank you, Harriet. I appreciate that. Thank you, Anja. I appreciate it. Thank you, Ingvi. You know, these are questions that we all need to hear. And, and they’re just awesome, awesome, awesome questions. So, if you’ve got something that’s bothering you… and I could spend all day on social, that Anja question. I could spend all day on the, you know, which, which, you know, which, you know, “which career path should I follow?” But man, that’s so deep, and I mean, you really need some coaching on that. You really need to look at your passion and what’s generating money. That could, that could go a million different ways. And Ingvi’s question is huge, too. I mean, that’s just another awesome question. You know, trying to figure out how do we work with our friends.

[00:15:45] So, keep them coming. And depending on how detailed the question is, I may do one of them on Thursday. I may do three of them on Thursday. We’re going to take it step by step. And if you have a question, just go over to Ask J.B.. Again, you can either press the button and record from your computer, and I’ll bring it right on here and I’ll answer your question. Or you can leave it in a comment. OK?

[00:16:03] So, let’s get out there and have a great day. Thank you, thank you, thank you. That was amazing. I got more coming to get your day started right tomorrow. We’re going to keep rocking it. M/M is coming next week, and I got some really huge announcements to make along with it. And I can’t wait. We’re going to work together for 11 weeks to become more mindful and really figure out this meditation aspect so that we can have more peace, joy, and happiness in our life. So, it’s awesome. So, thank you so much. Get out there. Have a great day. And I will be back with you tomorrow right here on morningcoach.com.
