'No' Really Does Mean 'Yes'

With so many brands of contact lens solution out there, it's hard enough to figure out which to buy, and then once you've settled on a brand you trust, you ask yourself, 'Rub', or 'No Rub'? The first question is a matter of preference and comfort--I've used and trusted ReNu for years since my doctor told me it DOES matter, to an extent, which brand you use. Beyond simply using what your comfortable with, apparently there is something to using a name brand, as he recommended ReNu or Aosept, basically urging me not to use the 'cheap stuff'--so along those lines Opti-Free should be fine, too. Another kernel of knowledge I remember distinctly was him telling me NOT to follow the directions carefully. In this application, when it comes to rubbing, 'No' means 'Yes' especially if your contacts are non-disposable or semi-disposable where you wear them for more than 2 months. While the 'No Rub' solution does remove more protein deposits compared to its 'Rub' counterpart, it is recommended to 'Rub' anyway, even when using 'No Rub' solution. Apparently the claims of not needing to rub are fine in theory, but as your lenses get older, protein will accumulate at a faster rate if you do not rub. The norm is to rub in a circular motion for around 20 seconds after applying a few drops of solution onto your lenses. Do this and your lenses will feel fresher and cleaner, longer.
