Jessica Andrade Under Allegations Of Taking Steroids By Former Opponent Calderwood

Jessica Andrade, a Brazilian mixed martial arts who competes in Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) Strawweight division, accused of using steroids by her former opponent, Joanne Calderwood.

At a UFC Fight Night 104, Jessica defeated Angela Hill through a unanimous decision where it was speculated that not everyone, particularly in 115 pounds division convinced with the fact that the women’s bantamweight fighter from Brazil is doing it in right way.

At the UFC Fight Night 104, after defeating Angela Hill, it was confirmed by the UFC President Dana White that Andrade is next in line for a shot a strawweight champion Joanne Jedrzjedczyk.

On some instagram post, Calderwood left a comment on the pic revealing, “She believes Andrade is on steroids” when compared her victory against Jessica Penne at UFC 199 and at UFC 203 victory over Joanne Calderwood.

Andrade never failed drug test. She tapped out Calderwood in the first round where she battered Penne by second round TKO to win. “Bate Estaca” is 16-5 overall and 7-3 with three consecutive wins as she gracefully moved down from bantamweight to strawweight.

As per the reports, it was not confirmed whether Jessica Andrade was really on steroids. Is Calderwood onto something or is it just her speculation?

While fighting at Bantamweight, she looked small, could be the case of 115 pounds being a better weight class for her.

Likewise, Jessica’s another opponent Claudia Gadelha showed some doubt on her incredible strength, however, she never openly accused her of using steroids.

In an interview with MMA Junkie, she said, she had never experienced such thing like before inside the Octagon.

She further added, “Jessica is very very strong. She was surprised with her incredible strength. She compared her to a 125 lb guy on the basis of her strength and power. She never felt that before ever. She thinks that she is fat better than her, technically, Jessica is just so much stronger.”

Jessica Andrade born on 22 November, 1991 is a Brazilian martial artist who is better known for her aggressive brawling style, substantial cardio and massive strength. She made her professional career with mixed martial artists debuted on 6 September, 2011.

She has won first ten fights in her native country. Jessica fought outside the Brazil for the first time on April 14, 2013 when she accepted Milana Dudieva at ProFC 47: Russia vs. Europe in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

Jessica’s Sexual Orientation

Jessica Andrade is lesbian and she accepted the act that she never hide this truth during her MMA career. Fortunately, her sexual orientation has not really been an issue.

She very well aware that not everyone will agree with her lifestyle. But she said that her latest bout as a part of FOX Sports 1-televised preliminary card held at San Diego’s valley View Casino Center, is a potential opportunity to chance many minds.

“She has always made it very clear that she is a homosexual. She likes women but this has never affected her fight. According to her, every interaction, in or out of fight is an opportunity to show that she is just like a normal people”, the Brazilian martial artist told MMA junkie.

She added that the way she communicates with people and care for them will always be same. Getting attracted to the same gender doesn’t really make us different.

Jessica made her UFC debut in 2013 against former title challenger Liz Carmouche where it has bit hard for her to avoid her sexual orientation since she was to fight with a gay fighter.

“When I was booked against Liz Carmouche, some people were saying that no one wants to see lesbian behavior in the case,” she said. They were saying that they would rather see a real fight. But this has not stopped Jessica, she remains the same fighter in the Octagon.

Unfortunately she lost the fight against Carmouche but quickly rose up with a three-fight winning streak.

As a lesbian, she said that she is lucky that it is possible for her to do this against some male counterparts.

Jessica Andrade said, she doesn’t have any idea about male homosexuals in MMA but all she knows that gay women tend to fight hard because we both were not worried about judged. We were just concerned about doing a good job.

Her Latest UFC 228 Knock Out

Jessica Andrade, the second-ranked women’s strawweight made her way to second title on last Saturday by knocking out No.4 ranked Karolina Kowalkiewicz in the UFC 228 co-main event.

Since the beginning of the fight, Andrade moved forward and pressured Kowalkiewicz. She easily stunned “Polish Princess” easily with her right hand in the opening round.

Karolina retreated then fired back landing with a combination. She got moved in the pockets with flurry of punches and got hit with thunderous right hand. This rendered unconscious impact on her.

This win of Jessica on Saturday was third in the line of her victory. All have been over the top five ranked strawweight: Claudia Gadelha, Tecia Torres and Kowalkiewicz.

Jessica Andrade now believes that she is clearly in line for title shot with the top contender Jedrzejczyk lost twice to champion Rose Namajunas.

Andrade addressing Dana White state that, “she is ready. She is here to prove that she is better than she has ever been. There will be huge card with both Brazilians fighting for the belt and she want to be fighting for a belt there too this 29 December.”
