The Non-scale Victories

It’s 4 am. I’m lying in bed with Jurassic Park on. It’s another night of not being able to sleep.

Lately I’ve been unable to sleep much at night. I’ve got a lot on my mind that seems to keep me up.

I realized that there’s something I tend to overlook and forget about. That’s my non-scale victories. The things I’ve done it accomplished that aren’t necessarily weight related.

I’m in my final year of School. This time next year, I’ll gave my bachelor’s degree. My kids are in middle school. Hubs and I have successfully gotten them though elementary school with good grades. And I’m approaching my 11th year of marriage.

I still think about that one a lot. I’ve been married for almost 11 years. That’s probably my biggest victory.

He’s laying next to me now, snoring away, and I couldn’t be happier.

Like with all things in life, marriage isn’t easy. Like my weightloss journey it takes work. It takes nurturing. We have to keep pushing forward and just never quit.

Also like my weight loss, it can be hard. You’re with the same person forever. While I got lucky and hubs is my best friend, we still have our issues. We still have things to work on. But it’s that noon-scale victory.

As we go through this life change one of the biggest supporters a person can have it their spouse. That person who’s in your corner cheering you on, giving you advice, and being your floatation device when you feel like you’re going to sink.

It’s okay to need help. It’s okay to need that extra morale boost. We need that, “You’re doing awesome” sometimes.

Don’t quit, DO IT!
