Zoom Whitening Procedure

Our Teeth are one of the first traits people notice about us. When we talk and smile, our teeth our exposed. However, years of wear and tear can make our teeth not-so bright anymore. They become dull and can turn yellow. For many, this fading color and discoloration can be embarrassing; many people even correlate discolored teeth with improper teeth hygiene. But, there is a way to turn your teeth into pearly whites again: whitening!

Teeth whitening is a popular procedure these days. From teens to seniors, people are opting for this procedure. At Tower Dental Arts, Dr. Sonia Rocha offers different teeth-whitening methods. One of the methods you can get from Dr. Sonia is Zoom Whitening.

Zoom whitening is a bleach process that helps lighten any discoloration of the enamel and dentin on the teeth. The Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp is used during the procedure and it helps to accelerate the bleaching process. This lamp activates the 25 percent Hydrogen Peroxide Whitening. As the hydrogen peroxide breaks down, oxygen enters the enamel and fentin, which bleaches the stains; this process does not change the structure of the teeth.

Before deciding whether or not Zoom is right for you, Dr. Rocha and her team will give you a comprehensive exam of both your teeth and gums to make sure everything is healthy enough to benefit from the whitening.

This procedure runs under an hour in time; however, it Is recommended that a patient gets a full cleaning before the whitening. During the procedure, the lips and gums are covered. Then, Zoom hydrogen peroxide whitening gel is applied; the gel and light work together to break up strains; the gel is on the teeth for 15 minutes. The gel is applied for three 15-min sessions. Afterwards, a fluoride paste-gel is applied to the teeth.

Sensitivity can occur, including minor tingling during the procedure and after. If this happens to you, the dentist can give you some anti-sensitivity toothpaste. This procedure is not recommended for children under 13, pregnant women or lactating women.
