Hiatal Hernia
In a hiatal hernia, the stomach bulges up into the chest through that opening.  There are two types of a hiatal hernia.
They are sliding and paraesophageal hernia.  This hernia is common to people whose age is more than 50.
Umbilical Hernia
In this case, intestine pushes through the abdominal wall near the belly button.  It occurs in babies under six months old.

Strain and weakness of the muscle is the reason behind hernias.   The weakness is due to age, damage from injury and failure of the abdominal wall to close properly in the womb.
