THE LSAT! - One Rule to Success

About three years ago, I took the Lsat - twice. After shelling out tons of cash to The Princeton Review, I ended up getting a much lower score than I anticipated. How could it be that I took an extensive review course and still managed to screw up the exam? Was the Princeton Review THAT big of a rip off? Three years later, I finally found the answer. And the culprit issss - Laziness!

If I could give one major rule to success when it comes to the LSAT it is that you should practice, Practice, practice!

ENGAGE THE LSAT!

"It's not necessarily the amount of time you spend at practice that counts; it's what you put into the practice." - Eric Lindros, Canadian Professional Ice Hockey Player

Now there is a concept that I wish I understood when sitting for my first LSAT. Sure, I would sit there for hours staring at the practice book, doing a practice question here and there between my Facebook journeys and text messages. Needless to say, I went in to take the exam unprepared and bombed it! However, I was deeply upset as to why I didn't do too well because I know I spend tons of time sitting there reading my book and paying attention in lectures. The problem was that I wasn't engaging the exam.
In my second attempt at the LSAT, I practiced questions more often (a minimum of 5 hours per day), reviewed outlines that I had created from scratch, studied my lecture notes, and kept away from the delightful distractions of life. The end result - a much higher LSAT score!

The Bottom Line: Don't be afraid to turn off your cell phone, stay away from Facebook and Twitter for the time being, create outlines, practice questions, and keep a positive frame in your approach! And hey - The Princeton Review is actually a great course to consider taking because the instructors are highly knowledgeable and the material is very helpful!
