Let’s get to it.

What is a business blog?

Excerpt from Feldman Creative Infographic

A business blog is a marketing channel that houses a collection of short-form articles on your business website. In contrast to a personal blog, a business blog’s sole focus should be to help grow your company. It accomplishes this by increasing online visibility (SEO), creating a connection with customers and prospects, and driving traffic to your website.

Your particular business blog should be real Estate-centric. When a potential client visits your blog they should see not only market stats and recipes (boring!) but interesting news as well. You want the content to fit into one of these categories 1)Instructional  2)Inspirational  3)  Entertaining  4) Current Events (that affect your local market).

Whether we’re discussing personal blogging or business blogging, a good blog sits is geared towards topics that your readers care about.

Much like your unliked social media posts, readers aren’t going to care much about every new listing you have or the fact that you closed on a home today, but they may be very interested to know about how interest rates are going up or that the city planning commission approved a new Hobby Lobby before figuring out a way to re-route the new traffic “Hobby Lobby Traffic Nightmare In The Making.”

Do I really need to blog as an agent? How will this help my business?

You most definitely need a business blog. And you should update your blog as frequently as possible.

  • If you want current and future customers to easily find you online, Websites with blogs have 434% more indexed pages (see image above). If you want to increase your online visibility and help potential prospects find you, then you’ll want to start writing. Just think of each post you write as bringing you closer to the elusive first page of Google.
  • If you would like to increase trust with website visitors, As Realtor’s we stick our face on anything and everything (except the milk carton). Though a picture may be worth a thousand words, it does not properly showcase our personality. Your blog can show folks that you are a real person, with real thoughts and feelings. In doing so, you allow them to connect with you and trust what you have to say.
  • If you enjoy making money, When I was an active agent I had three favorite real estate moments. I loved the feeling I got each time I was able to help a client through a crisis, got the listing, and cashed my check! If you love cashing checks as much as I do then you need to listen up. Real estate is a number’s game. No one knows that better than Mike Ferry. To increase the odds of you cashing more checks you need to bring in more leads. Enter— Your Blog.
