The F50 was used as a platform for the F50 GT, which was designed for international competitions in the GT class.
Three units were built with the help of Dallara and ATR, but the car was completely developed at Ferrari.
Aesthetically, the most notable changes with respect to the road car were an air intake in the roof and a different rear spoiler, with a central shock absorber and a rear diffuser. It had the same F50 engine, a clutch with carbon fiber discs and a sequential gearbox.
The F50 GT recorded very good times in Fiorano, but the project was not continued by Ferrari, which had concentrated most of its energies at that time in its return to Formula 1.
