30 Million New Solar Panels Planned in Florida by 2030

Currently powering over 10 million Floridians, the company has already secured multiple sites in order to prepare for the Solar panel installations throughout the State.

At a rough estimate of around 350 watts per panel their capacity would be 10,500 megwatts, which is almost 5 times more than the total of all of Florida as of today. Reports estimate that by adding these new solar panels FPL could also reduce their carbon emissions by up to 67% across the areas that the company serves

Support for this groundbreaking plan has already been voiced by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, as well as by other high ranking State officials.

Eric Silagy, president and CEO of FPL, said in a news release regarding the plan “We’ve long believed in making smart, forward-thinking infrastructure investments to produce tangible, long-term benefits – cleaner air, lower electric rates and reliable service – for our customers and our state, bottom line, this bold, innovative plan is the right thing to do for our customers and for our fast-growing state, and we look forward to working with local and state officials and our regulators to make this vision a reality.”

If Florida Power and Light can accomplish their lofty goals it will make the company the biggest producer of solar energy in America, and the State of Florida a world leader in solar energy.
