Fully Charged takes a ride in pre-production Mercedes EQC electric SUV

The Mercedes-Benz name first appeared on a car in 1901 and the firm is credited as the creator of the motorcar we know today. Fast forward to 2018 and the German automaker is building Its first ever, from the ground up electric car, a car designed to be a EV from the outset.

The EQC was first previewed in 2016 at the Paris Motorshow under the name Generation EQ, an SUV with the Jaguar I-PACE clearly in its sights. With the SUV market growing year on year it is clear why Mercedes is making this its debut EQ car.

The EQC is scheduled to go on sale in 2019, with its unpinnings set to spawn 4 models, thus maximising the £8.5bn investment being made in the EQ brand.
