The most highly anticipated new electric car of 2017 is latest Nissan LEAF. Launched back in 2010, the compact family EV kick started the electric revolution, becoming a top seller with over 250,000 units sold, 20,000 of which are in the UK.
Nissan traditionally never comment on new product developments, yet this time one detail confirmed is that the new LEAF will feature Nissan’s ‘ProPILOT’ technology. Enabling autonomous drive functionality in single-lane highway driving, operated at the touch of a single button. ProPILOT will control the steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on the highway, assisting drivers during heavy traffic congestion or during long commutes.
In the coming years, Nissan’s ProPILOT technology will offer increasing levels of autonomy, with the system eventually able to navigate city intersections. Set to make driving safer and more enjoyable.
ProPILOT technology forms an integral part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company’s blueprint for transforming how cars are driven, powered and integrated into society.Gareth Dunsmore, Director of Electric Vehicles, Nissan Europe said:
“The ultimate embodiment of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the new Nissan Leaf will be the most advanced, accessible EV on the market, today. Adding ground-breaking ProPILOT technology to the new Nissan LEAF will prove invaluable in unlocking many of the benefits of electric vehicles, creating less congested, cleaner cities for future generations.”
