Rembold named to new HT bureau for The Americas

HempToday has established a bureau to expand its footprint in The Americas – as state-by-state developments continue apace in the USA, and Central and South American nations turn increasingly to industrial hemp.

HempToday covers major news of the hemp industry worldwide and hosts professional educational workshops, seminars and networking events at its Poland-based HempToday Center.

‘Obvious move’

“It’s a rather obvious move for us,” said HempToday CEO & Publisher Kehrt Reyher. “Even though highly restricted, the U.S. hemp market is important because of the kinds of companies and people leading the industry, and the technology and research that’s under way.”

Perhaps more important, according to Reyher, are the nations south of the U.S. border, from Mexico and into South America – markets that have strong cannabis cultures. And HT’s new bureau will give Canada’s highly developed hemp industry much more attention, Reyher said.

Rembold to run bureau

The Hemptoday Americas Bureau will be managed by entrepreneur John Rembold, who brings a strong background in technology and a deep interest in sustainability to the position.

Rembold was working at a tech startup in Los Angeles in 2009 when he took a sabbatical to work on an organic farm in rural Wisconsin under the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) program.

He later became interested in the application of sustainable building practices in the urban core and worked on hempcrete building projects at a private home in Liberty in December 2017; and a wine tasting room for Apricity Vineyards, Grants Pass, Oregon earlier this year.

HQ in green building project

The HempToday Americas bureau will be headquartered at Rembold’s pilot green building renovation project, The Fort, in Duluth, Minnesota.

“John brings HempToday a complementary skills set, a thorough understanding of communications, and a real passion for hemp,” Reyher said.

Rembold’s portfolio for HempToday includes recruitment, direction of news coverage, and development of video and online learning assets. He’ll also look for new media opportunities and manage relationships with key accounts, Reyher said.
