This is our opportunity, with the announcement of major policy after major policy from Labour, we have at last the chance of a majority progressive society, which does a total U-turn on austerity, and instead reverts back to a society based on investment. We all know that austerity is a failed project….look at the results.
IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY.
- Overcrowded, underfunded, understaffed Hospitals. Major rise in operation waiting times, elderly people taking up many long term hospital beds due to austerity cuts on Social Care. A pay freeze on NHS staff….1 in 5 nurses are now forced to use food banks.
- Overcrowded understaffed Schools. Schools forced to either shorten their week or threaten to shorten their week. Schools writing begging letters to Parents….Parents cleaning school toilets!
- Social Care so drastically cut that our elderly and disabled have suffered massive indignity…..forced to take up hospital beds, left to sit in their own excreta. Often suffering crippling loneliness and depression.
- Disabled people committing suicide en masse, due to the Government introducing two profit driven companies ATOS and CAPITA whose fit for work assessments are often conducted by a person with absolutely no knowledge of that person’s health condition or disability. Such is the expense that the Government is spending more on this scheme than it would have done if it had just left it alone in the first place. Mental health patients completely deprived of any support in many cases.
- A damning 3 year investigation by the United Nations (UN) into ‘systemic and grave violations of disabled people’s human rights’ by the Conservative Government concluded last year and the verdict was damning. Guilty as charged. The Conservatives just swept it aside.
- Child poverty. 4 million children in the UK now living in poverty.
- Homelessness. A 240% increase in homelessness since 2010.
- Food bank usage, up 1700%….yes, I repeat, up 1700% since 2010. Why are people just accepting that we have food banks in one of the wealthiest nations in the world.
- Tax evasion…estimated to be up to £70 billion annually…..and tax cuts given to the richest, estimated to be, again, £70 billion anually. That’s a lot of money. Benefit fraud estimated to be £1.3 billion…..Tax evasion again….up to £70 billion! £4.7 TRILLION in UK offshore tax havens.
- Rapidly snowballing wealth inequality…..due to the above.
- Surveillance laws so draconian that now the Government, and this is close to Theresa May’s ‘heart’, has full access to your internet history, they can now see EVERYTHING…..your phone conversations, texts, internet usage, emails….EVERYTHING. Even Orwell would be afraid.
- We should now also all be aware that the Tories who repeatedly bang out the lie that Labour can’t handle the economy, are just that…liars. The stats prove without a doubt that the Tories, in the 7 years they have had power have borrowed more than ALL Labour governments combined in HISTORY. If that wasn’t outrageous enough….they have also managed to almost double our debt. So where is all this money going? I refer you back to the £4.7 trillion in UK offshore tax havens. The rich love the Tories.
